Hello! I'm heading to Yosemite for my first trip in one week and want to get some itinerary tips from you good folks. Here's what I"m thinking so far. My permit is for Young Lakes via Glen Aulin Trail. Day 1: Hike 7 moderate-strenuous miles from Tuolumne Meadows to Young Lakes, strike camp. Day 2: Day hike to summit of Mount Conness.

The Murphy Creek Trail is one of the less busy paths that begin along the Tioga Road, though receives quite a lot of use by backpackers heading to the Glen Aulin campsite - the trail is just a little longer than the usual route along the Tuolumne River (6.8 miles vs. 5.3 miles), and much more peaceful. The well marked trail to May Lake branches off the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) at a point near White Cascades, the waterfall next to the Glen Aulin High Sierra Camp. Prepare for the long uphill by filling your water bottles there, at McGee Lake or one of the small creeks further up the trail (which may be dry depending on the season) 2020-07-29 · Glen Aulin to Waterwheel Falls is a 17 mile out and back trail. This trail is a culmination of cascading waterfalls and lazy meandering calm sections. The Toulomne River in Yosemite is one of the clearest and brightest we’ve seen. Wonderful hike between June and October.

The Ranger will tell you where to park if you are hiking into Glen Aulin High Sierra Camp like we did. The Hike It is a moderate hike to Glen Aulin High Sierra Camp on the Tuolumne River. We traveled about 5.2 miles and it was relatively easy. The trail takes you downhill for most of the way as it follows the Tuolumne River northward
Start/Finish Glen Aulin Trailhead near Lembert Dome parking lot.
Although it can certainly be done in one day, hikers often choose to hike the 6 miles into Glen Aulin on the first day and spend the night either at the High Sierra Camp or in the backcountry before continuing on to Waterwheel. From Glen Aulin the trail follows the Tuolumne River the entire way to Waterwheel Falls.
